JADE discusses her choice to open the song ‘Tar’ with a minute’s silence to mimic hidden bonus tracks on CDs and vinyls, and says she “might remove [the silence] later down the line”:

“I know people hated it... and to that I just say: ‘I don’t care.’ [Laughs] I loved it! I think the silence was necessary anyways, because I feel like after such a loud, maximalist pop album, ‘Tar’ gives you a chance to settle down a sec.

‘Tar’ for me was the perfect ending to this [‘THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY!’] era, because the concept is quite sad. It’s like: I’m trying my best to put a smile on my face and perform for everyone, even when I feel crap. And there’s no other song on the record that really is like it. ‘Tar’ is just basically guitar and a few strings; there’s nothing more to it.”
