So @albomp was on @abcınmelbourne today and told Raff Epstein that China and India don’t allow duel citizenship (unfair, not diverse Govts) and that’s why he’s let their citizens have access to Australia’s first home buyers scheme. He sees no reason why they should have to commit to Australia. They love their home countries. Also says it not fair for non Australians to have to give up their home country’s citizenship to get access to an Australian taxpayer funded scheme to buy Australian homes. What if they wanna go home one day? They should be able to sell the houses that Aussie taxpayers helped them buy and take all that money back to their home country without paying a cent of the help back, and cos it’s their home they don’t pay any CGT either. All that money leaves, so they can enjoy it back home, living like royalty hopefully. And if they don’t make any repayments at all and just abandon the house, taxpayers foot the bill, and they can leave Australia and go home and no authority can stop them.
Over fifty thousand non citizens have already accessed the scheme. Mad not to. The first saving is not having to pay the average up front 60 k mortgage insurance. We pay it for them. That’s 3 Billion gone straight away. For more fairness, It’s not means tested, they could already be rich, and it’s only the first home in Australia.
