I've never understood picking up your ball without finishing the hole.

That's like in basketball, having a wide open fast break layup and instead of making the layup, you stop and set the ball on the out of bounds line and count it as 2 points. Then the other team inbounds the ball for their possession.

No one does that.

Make the putt because pros miss gimmies too. Its obvious you want the automatic make instead of risking missing it.
