I’m going to respectfully disagree with space heater’s comment (I can’t tell if they’re above or below my post). We can’t know what drives another’s concerns and, further, it’s each individual’s right to weight the concerns they have by their own metric. I’m not “holier than thou” by any stretch, but I look at Pope Leo’s public statements and can’t find any way to disagree with him. On the other hand, I find many of the President’s comments/actions so far beyond the pale of what we all used to agree was common decency and civil discourse that it lessens the office he holds. In full disclosure, this is coming from an old shitty Catholic (but my kids do still make me attend Mass on Sundays).
