Like I said before I think we can have better opportunity with the Requiem crew if we actually have been given an actual chance instead of just bringing back the og crew and the original story with just slapping "Dark Aether Story" on the front and calling it a good day y'know?

Now this is a 'Theory' not a fact, but let's go onto the machine that the twins gave Strauss from the drawing schematics they drew for him. What if it's keeps them alive still?

I think we should have kept weaver, grey, carver, and Strauss for a bit longer and a bit more story to them instead of just bringing Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, and Richtofen back again just cause treyarch wants too and the fan base wants them back just cause

But I believe our Requiem crew is still somewhat alive even if they're no longer have bodies to use anymore, I think we'll see them again maybe, hopefully but I think the way they set up our crew we had for only cold war, black ops 6 and 7 felt really underwhelming

But if we plan on returning to the OG crew as our permanent crew again then the whole point of black ops 4's Tag Der Toten ending still feels like it meant nothing at all and killing them off like that felt really stupid

Now if they're dead for real then it's a bummer to watch them die off so quick I think keeping them around was in my opinion great and we could have explored more with them

Let's be real we don't know what this machine does but "Allegedly" kill our Requiem crew in the cutscene of Rex Infernus, and we saw that revenov took their dark aether essences in the process, I don't know for cclearity if this is holding them for now or they're dead for sure
