@tlangford His assisted living is $92K/year, memory care will be >$100K. His social security is ~$36K/year before taxes. Sad to say, but if my mom hadn't died unexpectedly they would have run out of retirement savings in ~2 years.

@tlangford My mom died unexpectedly and sorting out my parents' financial life, selling their home, moving dad to assisted living (dementia), managing his health conditions, etc has been a FT job for the last year.

@KUT We have sycamore, pecans & scads of hackberries on the fenceline. Pecans were rock solid. They usually drop limbs, grateful they didn't. Sycamore lost 2-3 big limbs, but no house/car damage. Hackberries perilously close to power lines, but no damage. And yet, we have no power.

@LuzMorenoLozano @austinenergy @daddyrobot @VanessaForATX As one of those 600 outages, even an acknowledgement that yes, someone has seen the outage and knows what needs to be done (get a part, repair a line, etc ) would be *something*. The generic "we're still tracking outages in your area" isn't super helpful.

@broylesa We still don't have power 😔. I've taken all the @austinenergy statements and tweets over the last 2 days to mean that they won't really be working today and tomorrow b/c of weather. Or it will be at a seriously reduced level.

@natalieontv @KVUE No power since @ 6 pm 2/1, no internet since @ 9 am 2/1. Our zip 78757 has shown the largest # of customers out for a while on the @austinenergy map. We're crashing with a relative, but it's tight.

@alyssaharad They dropped it in the NYT, which I happened to see at about 8 tonight. So they've known for a while today and could have sent that text MUCH earlier. No evidence of work in my area, either IRL or on the dreaded map.
