@eee_aah@HFTVSports@TheFourthPeriod This is also true. But I will say that there does come a point where you need to reward your very successful young team. Doesn’t mean sell the farm, but sell from a position of depth i.e Reinbacher, Engstrom, etc.
@eee_aah@HFTVSports@TheFourthPeriod I just think they need a 2C earlier than that. Then you can move Hage to the wing. His faceoffs are not very strong.
@Honest_Ronaldo7@HFTVSports@TheFourthPeriod You don’t want to miss your window and the Habs window is opening right now. Hage is at least 2 years off before becoming a 2C. Has a lot of work to do in the faceoff dot.
@Zj_6@JosephRobicha12@HFTVSports@TheFourthPeriod I mean even if that’s the case he would be a fantastic add to play alongside Demidov. He needs someone to get in the dirty areas and cause mayhem but also has the skill to finish the chances he creates.
@JosephRobicha12@HFTVSports@TheFourthPeriod Knies-Hage-Demi would be a crazy line. Got the puck retrieval ability from Knies, the playmaking ability from Hage and the dynamic skill from Demi.
Wow well there goes the Yzerplan.
Wonder if Montreal would be interested… Great speed, good on the faceoffs, great leader. Would fit fantastic at 2C.
Still has 5 seasons at 8.7 million which fits very well with the Habs contracts.
A note on Brendan Gallagher:
Gally has been one of my favourite Habs players of all time. He plays as if he’s twice his size, has the heart of a lion and an incredible teammate. Mix that with the loyalty and love for the city, he’s been the heartbeat of this team for more than a decade.
I remember him and Galchenyuk coming up together and thinking we were set for the next decade. His friendship with Subban made for some hilarious moments. His shit eating grin in front of the net messing with every opposing player. Might’ve not been a popular guy in NHL circles, but man did you love having him on your team.
It was a gut punch to see him announce he’s leaving in a media scrum. You can see how much it meant to him being a Montreal Canadien and this might be the first moment in the Hughes/Gorton era that I’m quite disappointed in the way they handled the situation. Hopefully they learn from this and deal with the next situation with more respect to the players who laid the foundation of the culture for this team.
Thank you Brendan, for all the memories, the ups and the downs, you are truly the embodiment of what it is to be a Montreal Canadien and wishing you nothing but luck in your next challenge.
Statement game tonight. Slafkovsky looks fully healed, Demidov is taking over games at 20 years old. Danault costing a second round pick is a masterclass by Kent Hughes.
Carolina looked dangerous but this Habs team is so much faster and energetic. Dominant the whole way through. #GoHabsGo
