Fun fact: I once lived with Beatenberg for a few weeks in Cape Town while sorting out my residency issues with my university. Prior to that, I stayed with Rob and his mom for a few days before we moved to find our own place. He’s the drummer in the group. Solid guy who even gave me some of his clothes because I didn’t have much at the time.

Our friendship started from UCT’s Meridian Cyphers. He liked beatboxing and I enjoyed freestyling. Our relationship grew from that, we shared a lot of ideas musically and he was one of the few people who knew my situation at the time and supported me where he could.

I hope he’s still doing well. Their kindness really helped me survive some of the most difficult times of my life.
