Calls that Anamoe 🏇🏼 needs to go back to a mile is a huge knee jerk reaction, trying to add a palatable explanation to the nature of that defeat. His three best career ratings are all at 2000m. There were no such calls when he was beaten a lip in the 2021 Cox Plate as a 3YO and won it in 2022. Every time he’s stepped up from 1600m to 2000m he’s gone better. Dubai Honour’s Ranvet rating was clear of Anamoe’s career peak and on that run said he’s a better horse. The question was if he could back it up and he did, while Anamoe was perhaps 1L to 1.5L off his peak, He’s never had a big margin over our other WFA horses, so there’s little room be off his top and still win. It wasn’t a 2000m distance issue, it was a talent issue vs Dubai Honour and slight off day vs the rest. He’s a very good and consistent G1 WFA horse that can win some races in the UK at 2000m or 1600m, but he needs to go to a higher level than he’s ever been before to match it with the upper echelon
