@lottyburns I'm neither confident nor entitled, so I'm not sure it worked for me! :D

I think he has realised (perhaps 40+ years too late) that I'm not the most academic of people - structured learning doesn't work for me.

In fairness to him, it took me 30+ years to realise it as well!
