Waymo is now the same price, or more, than Uber Black and Lyft Black! 🤯
This seems especially pronounced during peak times like Saturday night at 7 pm. Remember, waymo has a fixed fleet so all they can do is raise prices to lower demand.
Uber can raise prices which lowers demand but also entices more drivers/supply onto the road. Hence the better price and eta during peak times.
What would you do in this situation? Lyft black and save $5 or waymo?
What if we turn travel time into living time?
In our latest interview by Ben Hubbard on @driverlessguy_, @thepixmoving’s MD for Europe, Alexandru Vasiliu, lays out a very different vision for driverless vehicles.
A few interesting takeaways 👇
🏙️ PIX sees autonomous vehicles not just as transport, but as flexible, human-centred spaces that can be shuttles, workspaces, cafés, retail stores or even a mobile classroom
🚐 The company has 200 autonomous vehicles operating globally, with a main base in China
🚍 Its RoboBus features a panoramic cabin for up to six occupants, no steering wheel, a safety supervisor onboard, and operates at speeds of up to 35 km/h
🛍️ The RoboShop turns mobility into retail, functioning as a café, pop-up store, exhibition space or cultural venue. As Vasiliu puts it: “The future cabin is not a fixed environment. It is a programmable space.”
🎓 PIX is also building one of Europe’s first dedicated autonomous mobility labs at the Politehnica University of Bucharest, giving students and researchers direct access to its technology.

Weren't they already in waymo's fleet? In phoenix, you could call waymo with the waymo app or you could call waymo with the Uber app. I wasn't aware that it was a dedicated fleet for the latter..
Waymo robotaxis are no longer available in Phoenix on the Uber app, ending a nearly three-year partnership in the city, both companies confirmed.
Waymo: “This was a productive pilot that paved the way for future expansions and partnerships across the globe. After hundreds of thousands of trips with Uber, we have integrated these vehicles back into our Phoenix fleet, where they will continue to serve riders through Waymo." https://t.co/nv6NEwoF0h
$UBER has wound down its Waymo robotaxi offering in Phoenix.
Uber said Phoenix was an intentionally limited deployment with just over a dozen vehicles, while Waymo said the program completed hundreds of thousands of trips.
Uber plans to announce a new Phoenix robotaxi partner in the future.
