@dan_pathfinder do you think these oak trees are in trouble? Two other trees in same strip have died in last couple of years and another noticeably lacking in foliage.
@Irishwildlife Forget encouragement. Hedgerows need protected status like SAC’s & NHA’s and harsh penalties for the destruction of these habitats.
They should be covered under the felling license legislation but obviously it’s not enforced.
@EcofactEcology @waterwaysirelan I’m baffled as to why this was done. Vegetation holds the river banks together. A felling license should have been needed. If it was issued someone needs to answer why and if it wasn’t prosecute those responsible.

Yesterday's @irishexaminer reported on the felling of ancient woodland in #toonvalley. Felling licence was suspended Jan 9th due to concerns from citizens - however am hearing reports that it has been reactivated and machines will be on-site again tomorrow. This is a travesty.
