(3/3) in their R&D headquarters in Pennsylvania as a Postdoctoral Scientist, where I will be working directly with the folks who invented these life-saving myeloma therapies to help take them to the next level. Cheers to new adventures. ๐
(1/3) Major Life Update! As some of you may know, my mom recently underwent CAR-T cell therapy for her multiple myeloma (a relatively new J&J therapy called Carvykti), and before that she was being treated by a J&J antibody therapy called Darzalex...
(2/3) The timing of these successful treatments has felt very serendipitous with my next career steps. It's been some time since I've wanted to officially announce the acceptance of my new Post-Ph.D. job. I have joined the Hematology-Oncology Discovery team at Johnson & Johnson..
This is so sad. And we wonder why we lose incredible scientists to other universities and why some of the best prospective graduate students don't want to come here.
This is truly devastating.

Not that I would be doing any coding adjustment myself ๐คฃ but tons of people downloaded the full AF2 package to their local servers to use it, and that's not possible for this version. Meaning everyone is at the mercy of one server for all queries, right?
Really awesome to see this come out. Hopefully there will be an easily accessible Colab notebook for this version as well. Doesn't sound like this is fully open source though (no available code), unlike v2.

Linking highly-expressed cancer cell surface antigens to activation of specific GPCR pathways is what I've dreamt of for the future of cell therapies. We've shown you can load platelets with transgenic therapeutic proteins, and they are activated by GPCR pathways, just sayin'...
@SamuelHBlack Great report! As I read it, I couldn't help but notice basically every game revolves around someone tutoring for dockside, another person copying dockside, blinking dockside, etc. Do you think the card is too format warping?
@DeansNeuroNow @BeTheMatchMSU Thanks for being a donor! I'm also on the registry, and it truly helps saves lives. I've seen firsthand what it does for people with myeloma, lymphoma, and leukemia. ๐
Today I passed my PhD Dissertation Defense in the @DeansSynBioLab, and I'm so grateful to all of my friends, mentors, and family members, for their unwavering support. Big shoutout and eternal gratitude to my advisor Dr. Deans @genegirl007! Here's to the adventures to come!
I wish more places offered something like this. Let's be done with the antiquated academic model of underpaid post-doc positions (let's be real, they're extended PhDs) and let graduates with a genuine interest in running a lab hit the ground running doing their own research!
It takes too long to start your own labโthe average R01 recipient is 42 y/o ๐ต. Want to start your independent research group out of grad school?
Come to my @ArcInstitute Fellows Program info session next Wed (Nov 15, 12pm PT). You'll get a $250K/year research budget + salary.
@Leili_Rohani@bioRxiv_synbio Thanks for your interest! Here's the full text link (https://t.co/eVxnYFzCA6). If you're having trouble viewing, just send me a private message and I'd be happy to send you a PDF. ๐
Excited to share the first of two pre-prints on my Ph.D. research in @DeansSynBioLab (2nd one coming soon!). In this brief communication, we demonstrate the potential utility of platelets as delivery vehicles, adding to the ever-expanding repertoire of novel cell-based therapies.

Back now from #SEED2023 and I am inspired by all the incredible work being done in our field. Spent time with some old friends and made some new ones, and networked with professors for potential post-doc opportunities! Thank you to all the organizers!
If you're at #SEED2023 and you are interested in seeing how @DeansSynBioLab is engineering platelets for controlled activation and therapeutic release, be sure to check out poster 47C this evening!
