@wayneriekhof I worked construction and roofing in Florida in the summer. It’s effing hot out. This is literally the hottest month ever recorded in the history of record keeping.
Very excited to share my most recent manuscript with @nicolebuan which was accepted for publication! Come check out Insights into the biotechnology potential of Methanosarcina. #Methanosarcina#Methanogen#Methane#Biotechnology https://t.co/stU8dkVUxU
Laura is one of the most talented undergrads I’ve seen in some time. Her acclimation to working under stressful situations and adapting to non-model microbiology is a testament to her skill and resolve. She’s just starting and already has an exciting future in research!
Congrats to all the undergrad researchers for your impressive accomplishments this summer! Here's my crew: Laura (far left) NCESR intern, Edric UCARE (4th from left), and Tyler (4th from right) Bioenergy REU. Plus @DarlaJ_Brennan, @TheSeanCarr, @MrConnorHines. (and a random HSer)
Tyler did an excellent job combining computational biology with getting some hardcore hands-on experience working with some of the toughest to work with bugs in the business. Glad to have him work in our lab this summer.

Great work all summer. Great results (even when we had to pivot some)! Great job presenting. Overall an amazing human.. we will certainly miss Olivia in the Weber lab @rockNmicrobe @nicoleafiore ft. @TheSeanCarr
I’m excited to share this new publication I am grateful to have been a part of. Exploring how the microbes in your gut work together to keep everyone healthy!

@TheErinCarr Don’t forget, you can also decompress a bit by spending time with a certain handsome devil. He’s a great writing buddy when he isn’t up to mischief.
@wayneriekhof Nebraska and USF have quite a few but I’ll always have a soft spot for Tim Wakefield from my high school in Florida. While we may not have been good, our mascot sure was a retired military rank which no longer exists in the US military. Go Eau Gallie Commodores!
That face you make when you get “that call” from NSF! 😱 So excited to announce that I received a recommendation to fund my NSF PRFB proposal for black yeast fungal symbiosis! Both the scariest and most exciting moment of my scientific career so far. 🍄🖤
Fun fact: protein structure files (.PDB) can be easily converted into 3D printable files. In case you ever wanted to hold one of your enzymes in your hand!
