I grew up in Ohio and a few guys I went to high school with ended up going to play football at Ohio Dominican. I remember thinking about how I had never heard of the school before then. That made it a very funny night to cheer for them after I turned the game on in OT.

It's almost time for seasons to start up again!

Big thing for Islander Athletics is that the student referendum finally takes effect as this academic year starts up. It's still going to take a while to make an impact as it mostly only applies to new students. Still, good to see!

Just saw this online, a conference meant to maximize carbon emissions of travel. Truly an honor to be included.

The closest pairing is Kansas and ND at 625 mi. and the furthest is Hawaii and Maine at over 5,000 miles.

This actually makes me a bit more sad about the current state of college sports.

Apart from my brother, everyone in my wedding will likely be people I met in college. These athletes miss out on some of the most formative years of relationships.

Kaleb Proctor said he had "very, very heavy" interest from FBS schools last year but wanted to stay with his teammates at Southeastern Louisiana:

"Most of these guys will be in my wedding one day. ... Who do you want to play beside your last year: A new guy or your brother?"

I understandably watch a limited amount of SLC football. Even with that limited amount, this is a name that was stuck in my head all of this past season. The unheard of practice of staying at one school paid off for him. Absolutely awesome to see him move on!

NEWS: McNeese transfer Tyshawn Archie has committed to Texas A&M, he told @LeagueRDY.

The 6-foot-1 junior out of Houston, Texas spent just one season at McNeese where he averaged 14.3PPG, 2.9APG, 1.9APG and 1.7SPG.
