@anypigslft2@Gus_802 Exactly. And there was no telling at the time how bad it was going to get. During the Delta variant surge India had a pretty dire period, which could have been us if we had proceeded less carefully.
@dahanksterF15 I wish we had a time machine for this guy. Unsurprisingly he can't even put together a decent video clip. The editing on it was choppy and bottom tier.
@Gus_802@anypigslft2 Yeah and the revisionist history is that there shouldn't have been lockdowns, but the primary basis for that was hospitals being pushed beyond their limits. Even with all the restrictions etc, they still had to limit many procedures etc.
@Gus_802@anypigslft2 Yeah I think it shows too that some of the weirdness in the political landscape is due to a lack of trust in government and our institutions. Unfortunately, some are turning toward worse solutions.
@KaraCalavera In retrospect what I find to be the strangest element in it all is how Dan and Dave wrote a disastrous pilot for GoT, which was scrapped. Then they managed to adapt about 4 good seasons, before reverting back increasingly to their pilot level writing. It's bizarre.
@Gus_802@anypigslft2 I saw one interview he did on Youtube and since then I've tried to avoid anything new about the guy. Most disturbing thing was how many in the comments were saying he was the only one they'd vote for. So much madness.
@hoagiebum@joshgitt1214 The speculation is they're saving up for Ohtani, but he's just one guy, and the problem with the Dodgers this year is balance. The Angels have both him and Trout and it hasn't gotten them anywhere.
@hoagiebum@joshgitt1214 JT does offer position flexibility though, and you could have a world in which both were on the team. They thought too highly of Vargas though.
@hoagiebum@joshgitt1214 I'm glad Cody is doing well, but I can understand why they gave up on him. JT I would've kept. He's just a good fit for the club too.
@joshgitt1214@hoagiebum Kopech intrigues me. Wish we could've pulled him away from Chicago. So much upside and he fits your scenario with their handling of pitchers.
@hoagiebum@joshgitt1214 Can't argue with that. I thought both of those contracts by the Mets were idiotic. But one thing that this season has stressed to me is our front office has just let too much talent go elsewhere. You can't keep everyone, but they let too many key guys go.
@hoagiebum@joshgitt1214 I would take a hard pass on Scherzer. Verlander I might've gone for if the Mets ate a lot of that contract but he wanted to return to the Trash Cans, so I don't think he was ever really in play.
@hoagiebum@joshgitt1214 It was against the A's though, so we'll see how Lynn does against a MLB lineup next time out. He was shelled by the Cubs and Twins in his two games prior to the trade.
@joshgitt1214@hoagiebum I'm fine with Rosario, but Kelly's numbers this year aren't good on paper. It would've been fine if he was part of other moves to bolster the staff.
@hoagiebum@joshgitt1214 It's incompetence though that they waited until the wire with a guy who has a no trade clause, and apparently didn't want to leave his family in Detroit.
@hoagiebum@joshgitt1214 The trade deadline was a farce. I'm good with bringing Kike back, even if he's not the same guy he was, but the rest of that was inexcusable.
Police in New York City struggled to control a crowd of thousands of people who gathered in Manhattan’s Union Square for an internet personality’s supposed video game console giveaway that got out of hand.
Representatives of the #WGA and the major studios met Friday afternoon for the first time in three months, but there were no signs of a breakthrough in the months-long labor standoff that has upended Hollywood. #AMPTP#writersstrike
