Today in Haaretz there is an article accusing Israel of being a terrorist state (plus committing crimes against humanity). It was not written by a Marxist member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
It was written by former Israeli PM Ehud Olmert.
Media critic Adam Johnson says that even if a consensus eventually emerges that Israel’s assault on Gaza constituted a genocide, there is unlikely to be meaningful accountability for the political and media figures who enabled it.
Johnson pointed to former Biden administration officials quickly returning to influential liberal institutions as evidence that the political establishment has already moved on, and argues that without an organized resistance movement that explicitly pushes accountability for Gaza to the front and center, those who backed the genocide will continue to be reintegrated into mainstream political and public life without consequence.
i want people to hear themselves. i want them to sit with the horror of the sentence they keep circling without saying. yes, the village was destroyed. yes, people were killed. but someone got a pathway into the middle class. say it directly. hear how monstrous it sounds.
Rashida Tlaib and the winner of the NJ-12 primary Adam Hamawy were casually smeared as “terrorists” by mainline politicians and commentators over the past 24 hours. Will we get panicked trend pieces about “Muslim safety” and the “alarming rise in anti-Muslim racism?” We will not.
The Department of Justice disagrees strongly with the decision on the Anti-Weaponization Fund put forth by the United States District Court Judge in the Eastern District of Virginia, wherein the Court stated that, under no circumstances, may the Department of Justice proceed with the Anti-Weaponization Fund recently established in order to make up for the tremendous abuse, harm, and hate unfairly shown to so many people. This Fund was open to anybody who was so weaponized, targeted, or persecuted, whether they were Democrat, Republican, Conservative, Independent, or otherwise. The Department will abide by the Court’s ruling.
Israel spent 2 years running an elaborate lobbying campaign to have Hamas added to this UN sex-abuse blacklist, making the case that the UN designation was thorough, evidence-based and widely respected, which was why it was so important for them to get Hamas added to it.
Now that Israel has been added to it, they say the whole thing is a sham.
Liberals think you can peace process this away. They think you can just coexist this away. That you can protest this away.
There are Palestinians who laid their lives on the line to stop this, they fought every single day to stop the theft of their land, the extermination of their people. Don’t let anyone ever convince you to condemn or forget those who used their last breaths to stop this.
every zionist cruelly mocking activists “go to gaza” “go to gaza” and when people try they get abducted in international waters then raped and tortured in tel aviv.
It’s too late, David. I followed your work in the late 1990s an early 2000s, and I teach your failed lessons. Today, you are not reading the room. These arguments no longer work after what people have witnessed constantly for the past two+ years. No one with a shred of decency cares about your equating of antisemitism with anti-Zionism. It’s like equating anti-Nazism with some sort of bigotry. Both must be opposed for humanity to move forward— and certainly for the United States to do the same. Fortunately, even in the United States, the latecomer, this is happening broadly, increasingly, and inexorably. Hence the desperate attempts (articles, SM Hasbara, media acquisitions, corrupt law-fare etc.) which will actually prove the point and deepen anti-Zionism. Keep at it. Good day.
1000% zionists will come to agree that the Kristoff article is true and justify retroactively that it is okay because Palestinians are "dogs" to them
the most disgusting people on the planet
Trying to fight antisemitism by saying “I have nothing to do with Israel” is a catastrophic mistake.
It doesn’t weaken anti-Zionism. It validates it.
It tells the world the Jewish state is something Jews themselves are afraid to stand beside.
ok white dude in Belgium with zero familial, cultural, genetic, linguistic, or legal connection to any part of that land. maybe you should read what the original zionists wrote about what they were doing. unlike you, all of them—from Herzl to Jabotinsky, to Ben Gurion—were clear that they were colonizing Palestine and they referred to Palestinians as "the natives" and "indigenous population". Now that colonialism is out of fashion, you've made up a whole new fairytale. GFYS
