In 2021, my team and I discovered that Communities like OGIDA - ISU - URWU in Etche Rivers State HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED POWER in form of Electricity; i.e what Nigerians know as NEPA.

Thankfully one of our partners Women in Renewable Energy Rivers State branch secured sponsorship from Share Yourself USA and we were able to donate hundreds of Solar Lamps to School Students in Ogida and some parts of Etche to aid their study sessions at night.

VOLUNTEERISM IS THE KEY TO AFRICAN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

I have impacted the lives of Millions of Personalities around the Globe❗🤩

I started my journey of VOLUNTEERISM in 2010 with Toyosi Akerele's RISE Networks during Youth Program Ibadan 2010 and Former President Goodluck Jonathan's My Friend and I program BRING BACK THE BOOK CAMPAIGN in Lagos.

President Goodluck Jonathan was known at the time as the first President on Facebook who interacted with his friends directly. Here I also met in person the likes of A-list Artists such as Tuface, Dbang, and Psquare; photographer TY Bello, the personal photographer of GEJ.
I remember this event had my parents answering too many calls from family and friends who called to know where I was as they had watched me being interviewed during the program with the President of Nigeria on National TV Networks; some bad belle fiffle even started advising my parents about not letting me loose to the point of traveling to cities outside my school location 😅😅
Me, wey since primary school, my papa go always give the last cash in his wallet to sponsor me to every competition no matter the location, na im you wan dey advise?🤣🤣

Honestly, I recorded a lot of benefits volunteering for Toyosi Akerele then I met Mr Kofi Renner who within the shortest timeframe trusted me with huge responsibilities that challenged me to do beyond my best - Coordinating Cleanup campaigns for Ocean Conservancy's Clean Coast Nigeria in Rivers and Oyo states.
I must affirm today that volunteering is paying off big time, especially with my personal Brain Child and vehicle that I have used since July 2016 "My Environment, My Wealth" Nigeria #myemywealth.

Since 2017 I started coaching Young People with one of my favourite quotes - "Volunteerism is AN EASY WAY of BUILDING CAPACITY without RESTRICTIONS", because it is one fact I have experienced positively.

Interestingly, according to the United Nations, "A volunteer has options while selecting an assignment!"

You see, Volunteering is essential for the SDGs. Volunteering brings people and communities together to grow, build resilience, and develop community responsibility. Social engagement and trust are strengthened through individual and collective volunteer actions. These lead to sustainable and powerful development, for people, by people.

Volunteering also increases civic engagement, inspires others, and drives the changes needed to grow the SDGs in communities. Through this civic engagement, volunteering ensures that no one is left behind. The power to reach everyone is essential to localize the SDGs to make sustainability a big deal in local communities as well.
