On the 2nd Nov 18, a team of Cheshire Police officers will be walking the 70 mile Cumbrian Way in aid of the PC Nicola Hughes Memorial fund and Call 4 Backup.
We're sorry to say, that at 11:30 this morning after walking for 26 hours/50 miles, the team made the hard decision to call the walk off. 2/4 walkers and 2/3 support crew had to withdraw. No visibility and worsening rain/falling temp, we agreed that it wasn't safe to continue.
Of all the things to go wrong on a charity walk we did not expect a flat tyre on the primary support car with no spare in the boot 😩 TheAA on the way to hopefully save the day - Op Support
Final foot treatments being applied. Support cars filled. Breakfast consumed. About to make our way to the start. Please, if you can, donate to support 2 great causes.

Everybody is up. Start time pushed back to 0900 hrs due to delays getting up here. We can't wait to get started now - a hearty breakfast and then we're off.
What are we walking?
Section 5 of the Cumbrian Way is Caldbeck to Carlisle. We're on the final stretch now, the end is in sight... Looking forward to meeting colleagues from Cumbria Police as we finish at their Northern Divisional Headquarters. We did it... we hope...
One risk we didn't plan a contingency for, the M6 being closed. 5 of us now taking a detour through the Forest of Bowland. Tyson and Andy are unfortunately stuck in it. We still have plenty of time to get to our accommodation, get settled, and get a good night's sleep though.
The whole team are fighting the school holiday traffic on their way up to Ulverston. A few niggles, a last minute patch up job on a cut foot, and a new job for one of the team has meant an eventful last day. Spirits are high and excitement levels are building. Si
Craig, being wished good luck after his final shift in the control room with @NWAmbulance before setting off for the Lake District for our 76 mile charity endurance hike.
If you can, please sponsor us.

What are we walking?
Section 4 of the Cumbrian Way is Keswick to Caldbeck. We'll stop for breakfast near Carrock Fell, and hopefully take in a beautiful Cumbrian Sunrise, before heading north to Caldbeck for another short break ready for the final push!
What are we walking?
Section 3 of the Cumbrian Way is Dungeon Ghyll to Keswick. We'll cover this whole section through the night so members of the Support Team will join the walk, to help keep us on track and help power us through to Section 4...
What are we walking?
Section 2 of the Cumbrian Way is Coniston to Dungeon Ghyll. Continuing the route from about 15:00 we'll break for supper around 19:30. After a full day's walk we'll all be looking forward to keeping going in the pitch dark through Section 3...
Why are we walking?
Call 4 Backup
A police support charity set up for police officers, offering well-being, legal, domestic and financial support to officers in times of need. The level of risk faced by officers today means more officer required help.

Most of us are obsessively checking the weather this week, searching across multiple weather apps. All making sure that we're prepared and know what to expect. It turns out that rain and cold are inevitable in the Lakes in November. The question is really when, and how much. Si.
What are we walking?
Section 1 of the Cumbrian Way is Ulverston to Coniston. We're setting off at 07:00 from the southern most point of the Cumbrian Way and hoping to reach Coniston around 15:00 for a quick break before moving on to Section 2...
