REVEALED: UNC researchers are promoting “militant platform democracy”—a framework for Big Tech to prevent political leaders they deem anti-democratic from taking power.

They specifically name Trump, argue he should have been banned before January 6, and oppose his subsequent reinstatement.

One of the authors, UNC professor Daniel Kreiss, has also been appointed to a research chair at the University of British Columbia backed by C$8 MILLION in Canadian federal funding over eight years.

In an October 4 interview, Kreiss explained the objective of proactive platform moderation:

“to prevent anti-democratic actors from taking power in the first place”

He then singled out Trump:

“Trump should have been de-platformed far before January 6th happened.”

The paper, co-authored with researcher Lorcan Neill, also argues that Trump should not have been reinstated in 2023 or had remaining restrictions removed in 2024.

Their framework is titled:

“Militant Platform Democracy: A Framework for Democracy-Worthy Platform Policies.”

UNC’s own summary explains that militant democracy allows democratic states to preemptively restrict the rights of individuals, groups and parties that threaten democratic institutions.

The researchers propose applying that approach to social-media platforms.

Their recommendations include:

• Placing the democratic public’s rights above individual rights to expression on commercial platforms.
• Drawing a red line around strategic efforts to undermine public faith in elections.
• Assigning particular responsibility for democratic norms to political leaders and candidates.
• Restricting platform access based on threats to democracy.

Who would decide how those principles apply?

Kreiss said:

“We think platforms should decide for themselves”

Neill said the framework could help trust-and-safety employees advocate for changes inside their companies.

Meanwhile, UBC describes Kreiss’s new chair as an $8 million federal investment in democratic journalism. His research there will examine how journalism, digital platforms and new technologies shape democratic life.

BREAKING: Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee is halting the state’s remaining execution for 2026 and ordering a third-party review after officials fail to execute death row inmate Christa Pike.

Pike received two syringes of lethal injection Wednesday night but remained alive and could be heard snoring, according to her attorneys and media witnesses. Her legal team filed an emergency motion to stop the execution as the situation unfolded.

Pike was later transported to an off-site medical facility.

Lee says the state has a responsibility to ensure executions are carried out legally, constitutionally, and effectively.

🚨 PAYNE COUNTY PARENTS FORCED A GRAND JURY… AND AG GENTNER DRUMMOND IS TRYING TO STOP IT.

🚨 BIG developments in Payne County: Parents for Payne County just scored a major victory for accountability. They gathered OVER 2,452 VALID signatures, nearly THREE TIMES the 828 required, to force a citizen-led grand jury investigation into former District Attorney Laura Thomas and her office.

Judge Richard Ogden approved it. The grand jury will examine allegations that Thomas abused her authority, suppressed evidence, failed to properly investigate and prosecute crimes against children, and allowed systemic failures in how child abuse and family cases were handled in District 9 (Payne & Logan Counties).

This is parents stepping up because the system wouldn’t.

But the battle isn’t over. Attorney General Gentner Drummond is now attempting to stop the grand jury from moving forward. In a case involving serious questions about prosecutorial misconduct and child protection, many are asking why citizen oversight is being challenged before the investigation can proceed.

Shoutout to Rep. Justin “JJ” Humphrey for staying on it, exposing the interference, and fighting alongside families demanding real justice. Many said this wouldn’t happen, but here we are.

Oklahomans are tired of officials who prioritize protecting the system over protecting kids. Why the rush to stop citizen oversight when serious allegations are driving the call for a grand jury? This isn’t about politics. It’s about accountability and keeping our children safe.

Dana, we aren't "laughing at scripture" as you suggest. We are laughing at you, and the clear and obvious gaslighting you exhibited on stage suggesting that a political and cultural public figure is immune from critic or dissent simply because of the widow status.

You also conveniently left out the parts of scripture which state that a widow also has behavioral responsibilities to abide by. Being a widow does not give one license to behave however you want without criticism or admonishment.

Do you know that widows, according to scripture, are capable of bringing shame and distortion upon the Christian community. Especially if they are "self-indulgent" as explained in that 1 Timothy verse that you cut short?

Tulsa Police Detectives are seeking a missing and possibly endangered person, 36-year-old Steven Russell.

He is 5’04” tall and weighs 150 lbs.

Russell walked away from his vehicle near Sand Springs on Charles Page Blvd., leaving his wallet and keys behind.

On 6/7/2026, Russell was last seen around 2:30 a.m. in a backyard near 51st W. Ave. and 8th Street, appearing disoriented.

He has medical conditions that can be life-threatening.

He was last seen walking eastbound on W. 8th Street.

BREAKING: Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond and Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler announced today that three individuals have been charged with 27 counts of fraud, embezzlement, and kickbacks involving nearly $780,000 in Tulsa Public Schools funds.
