Jerry Hopkins, photographer and Rolling Stone journalist who accompanied the band to Mexico, described the scene in these photos as:
“From El Acuario the group went to the Plaza de Garibaldi (named for the Italian revolutionary), where mariachi bands come together each night in an informal outdoor concert-hiring hall... Jim and Ray and the others had their pictures taken with one of the bands, then walked across the square to Salon Tenampa, the neighborhood’s noisiest mariachi bar, where Morrison had his portrait sketched, paid an outrageous price for the tray the waiter was using to deliver the group’s drinks, and joined everyone in tossing down several tequilas.” - Jerry Hopkins
Hopkins wrote about the trip in ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE.

June, 1969 - Mexico.
Jim arrived in Mexico ahead of Ray, John, and Robby, later introducing his bandmates as “Ramon” Manzarek, “Juan” Densmore, and “Roberto” Krieger, while introducing himself as Fidel Castro.
Beyond the performances, the trip became its own experience. Jim attended a Javier Batiz performance at the Terraza Casino and even joined him onstage, while the band and crew later explored the National Museum of Anthropology, Plaza Garibaldi, and the ancient city of Teotihuacan.

June 16, 1967. The Doors played live at The Action House in Long Beach, New York. The Scene was closed for three days during the Monterey Pop Festival, and The Doors, who didn't represent the venue's image of love and peace, were overlooked and not invited. Before their first show there, Jim Morrison reportedly asked the bartender to line up fifteen shots of Jack Daniel's, which he then drank, one after the other, just before going on stage. As the show progressed, Morrison again asked the bartender to line up another fifteen shots and drank them. He was extremely drunk and began to show signs of it, but before passing out, he attempted to strip naked on stage. The band intervened, and near the end of the show, it was abruptly cut short.
