Thought experiment: how much could we learn about the brain purely through psychology experiments i.e. show some stimuli, record some behaviour?

No neuroscience allowed (no microscopes or brain scans).

Could we eventually work out that the brain was made up of smaller units?

𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴: neuro experiments *fix context* as much as possible as per good experimental control. But if brain processes are strongly context dependent, we need to flip the strategy around or at the very least do both.
Working hypothesis: radical context dependence.
