The average Social Security recipient gets $1,850 a month after 40 years of paying into the system.
Average rent in most American cities is over $1,700.
That leaves $150 for groceries, medication, utilities, and everything else life requires.
40 years of work.
40 years of paychecks with a chunk taken out every single time.
For a check that doesn’t even cover a one bedroom apartment.
Congress debates cutting it further every few years.
Nobody in that room has ever had to choose between rent and medication.
That should piss off everyone regardless of who you voted for.
Please tuck this list of scriptures somewhere accessible. The next time you are afraid and don’t know what to do please read these scriptures out loud. God bless you.

@Diegoranchinc
Two weeks later, our manager called a short team meeting. I assumed it was about quarterly numbers.
Instead, she held up a small router.
Manager: "Starting this week, we're setting up a private study space in the back office.
Anyone who needs quiet space or better internet access after hours is welcome to use it. No questions asked."
She didn't look at Renee. She didn't have to.
Later, I found out Renee's brother had finished his last final that morning. Passed with one of the highest grades in his class.
Renee stopped by my desk before leaving.
Renee: "You didn't have to say anything to her, you know."
Me: "I didn't tell her the specifics. Just that some people might need quiet space sometimes."
She smiled, the tired kind that means more than words.
Renee: "He wants to be a teacher. First in our family to finish college."
I watched her walk out that night, on time for once, and thought about how much we assume when we only see the surface.
Sometimes the person staying latest isn't falling behind.
Sometimes they're carrying someone else forward.
