Transport choices have a measurable impact on the emissions behind every shipment.
7 September marks the International Day of Clean Air for blue skies, with a focus on accelerating practical action to improve air quality.
For businesses moving goods and materials, that action includes decisions made every day: route selection, freight mode, distance travelled, load efficiency and how supply chains are planned.
Carbon data gives those decisions more context. When businesses can compare the emissions associated with different routes and transport options, they can make choices that work better operationally while reducing unnecessary carbon impact.
Think Carbon helps businesses calculate and compare emissions across supply chain movements, giving procurement and logistics teams clearer information at the point where decisions are made.

Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism | The Definitive Guide for EU Trade
"The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism is the European Union’s attempt to place a comparable carbon cost on certain imported goods and products made within the EU. In simple terms, it asks importers to account for greenhouse gas emissions created during production and to buy certificates reflecting those emissions.
Since 1 January 2026, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism has operated as a financial and regulatory system rather than a reporting exercise. That matters to customs specialists, procurement teams, manufacturers, exporters, sustainability professionals and finance directors."

4% Drop In UK Waste Emissions Signals Shift In Carbon Smart Logistics | Think Carbon
"For years, the waste industry has talked about emissions in broad strokes. Landfill methane. Energy from waste. Recycling rates. National targets.
Now the data is sharper. The UK waste sector accounts for roughly 6 percent of total greenhouse gas emissions. Seventy seven percent of that comes from methane. Fifty five percent comes from landfill. And while the sector’s emissions have fallen more than 60 percent since 1990, the latest drop of 4 percent between 2023 and 2024 was driven largely by one thing: an 8 percent fall in landfill emissions.
That tells us two things. First, methane control works. Second, the low hanging fruit is becoming harder to reach.
The next gains will not come from slogans. They will come from decisions. Particularly decisions about where materials go and how they get there.
That is where Think Carbon sits."
