When I was a boy, my English teacher, Humphrey Twomey, taught us the value of critique. Read something. Don't rush to judgement but consider it from every angle. Each boy in the class was then allowed his own opinion. Whenever I encounter instant outrage here, I miss Mr. Twomey.

Albert Reynolds was right to have Gerry Adams and John Hume on the steps of Government Buildings in the aftermath of the IRA ceasefire. Reynolds was a practical patriot, despite his social and intellectual detractors.
It can’t be sustainable for public health advice to be “isolate immediately and book a PCR test” if you have symptoms and then to have no PCR tests available to book.
