3-Individuals with a suicidal history also had higher levels of depression, entrapment, defeat and death-related mental imagery than those without a suicidal history.

In this study, we experimentally manipulated low mood to examine its effect on PFT in people with different suicidal histories and found that:

1-Individuals with a suicidal history had fewer positive future thoughts (PFT) compared to those without a suicidal history.

2-The mean PFT scores from pre- to post-negative mood induction decreased significantly in those with a suicidal history but not in those without a suicidal history. This shows that positive future thinking is more affected by negative mood in suicidal individuals.
