I don't know if anyone will ever read this thread or care about what I am saying.
Probably I will get abuse from the trans lobby because you aren't allowed to know that transgenderism without dysphoria is just cosplay.
I wrote it because I couldn't live with this unsaid.
I wasn't born a Billy Bragg, I became Billy Bragg.
As a trans Billy Bragg my experience of Billy Braggulinity is researched and chosen.
That makes me more Billy Bragg than you whiny cis Billy Bragg b:+ches.
Suck my Billy Bragg BBERFs.
@feministbirther There is a language, but you refuse to recognise it. If they want to talk about women they can say women or cis women or trans women, depending on what context they're speaking in.
There are only 2 human sexes.
&
Intersex people exist.
Also...
Human beings walk on 2 legs.
&
It's possible for humans to have a different number of legs.
Intersex isn't an argument against sexes any more than disability is an argument against anatomy.
@SpicyKeo @EsqSpenser Laughable that you presume to breeze in and make defamatory insinuations solely because I have failed to conform to stereotyping is itself stereotyping and you are far too stupid to contribute to this conversation. So for the last time, you will fuck off. I will make you.
I'm a woman in my 40s and a survivor of childhood sexual abuse by both men and women.
As a bisexual I once believed LGBT+ spaces were for me but I have become critical of gender as a concept.
This thread is about that change of position and my concerns.
@SpicyKeo @EsqSpenser I told you to fuck off. In case that means something else in Texas let me be ultra clear with you. You aren't welcome. Your comments amount to nothing more than an effort to insult me and you haven't the skill or proximity to cast such assertions.
@EsqSpenser @SpicyKeo Men calling women mad for thinking thoughts that don't prioritise men is a tale as old as time.
I can't be bothered. I blocked him. Thanks for your assistance.
I’m neither proud nor ashamed of being a gay man.
My sexual orientation is the least interesting thing about me.
That’s what gay rights is actually about, the battle for homosexuality to be mundane.
@DuncanHenry78 The "trauma" invalidation has lead to serious harm and suicides of LGB people over generations.
It's also a standard male insult to women who won't agree with them.
I use drag myself (as I am female we are known as drag kings) but I use it in appropriate contexts only. I cannot imagine what positive reading while in drag brings to the table for children.
Maybe I am overlooking something? What worthwhile lessons or joys can come of this?
If a costume character is going to perform to kids why isn't it something kids like?
If I was planning such an event I would invent a book bear or story cat. I would background check the actor and ensure the tone was appropriate for kids.
Kids aren't the priority here.
Pride Glasgow, which is happening on the 25th of this month, is hosting Drag Queen Story Hour as one of its events. Sponsored by @bernardos, of all people. What the hell is the need for adult performers to be reading to kids? It’s completely inappropriate.
What is the drag queen bringing to children's attention?
Are they going to make drag relevant to sciences in the way the fisherman character invites children to engage with marine science?
Are they going to teach moral lessons in the way Salty the dog is utilised for empathy?
