The NFL draft is a special day for me. I really enjoy analyzing and “scouting” the prospects. I have favorites and I hope they get drafted into good situations. I hope my favorite team drafts good players that are good fits for the team. Every team is 0-0 and has a whole world of
want to go look them up to see what their strengths are. Me, Bruno, Max, and Sean had a little tradition of watching the draft together for a couple years. Max has moved away, but we still talk with him every other day about football. We’re still here tonight trying to keep the
Part 11: This post is about the unfortunate side of football. The injuries. This is mot a fun part of football, but is important for teams and for fantasy football managers to consider injury history. It also adds context, for example why Tyson’s stats dropped off from ‘24 to ‘25
out the targets that were deemed uncatchable by stat keepers. Targets are a difficult stat to apply at times because a receiver can be targeted by a very uncatchable ball sometimes. All catching stats are based on their last season. #TLaC#nfldraft#2026nfldraft#nfldraft26
Part 10: Today’s post will look at catching ability. We will look at drops, % of targets caught, and % of opportunities dropped. The first 2 are pretty straightforward, but for % dropped I am calculating opportunities as catches + drops. Trying to highlight the drops by taking
Special post: This post is to explain more about these predictor stats. Yard per Route Run is a lot of scouts and analysts favorite stat. It makes how much a given receiver is part of the offense a big factor in evaluation. If the player is being targeted, catching the ball, and
elite QBR when targeted would be 130+. This start also largely depends on how good the QB is. Breakout Age is the age at which a given receiver 1st commanded 20% or more of their team’s passing yards and passing TDs. Also note that I only have access to YPRR and QBR when Targeted
broke out this past season. I will explain how I come up with these numbers and what you can take away from them more in another post, but for now this is about comparing the players based on these stats. #TLaC#nfldraft#2026nfldraft#nfldraft26#nflprospects
Part 9: This is the post where we start getting into some really interesting stats that I do not think a lot of people are very aware of. This particular post is arguably the most important stats I will post about these players. Yards per Route Run, Breakout Age, and QBR when
he was on the field for. The argument may be that he was playing with a nagging injury. Tate and Tyson both broke out at age 20 while Lemon broke out at the age of 21. The year below the breakout age is the year the player broke out. Tyson broke out in 2024 while Tate and Lemon
Part 8: Today the post is covering what I like to call these players’ open field stats. As a 49ers fan, these kinds of skills have become increasingly important in evaluations, from Deebo’s self-named “wideback” position to the YAC bros moniker.
As you can see, the only significant difference in last season’s yards after catch is Lemon’s 6.4 compared to the other 2’s 4.5. Tate had the most success on rushing attempts based on average, but Lemon had 2 TDs and Tyson had 1.
