"Wishing the young man all the very best!"
Jason Antwi-Agyei, one of the key figures behind PRESEC-Legon’s historic 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) victory, has begun a new chapter at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he is studying Mechanical Engineering.
In a TikTok interview with Yolanda, a PRO of the Ghana Engineering Students’ Association (GESA), Jason explained why he chose the programme, saying he believes it will give him the opportunity to reach his full potential. “I like the rigour of engineering, and I think it's the best course I can do to fully unleash my potential,” he said.
The former PRESEC contestant also shared his ambition to build machines that can address real-world challenges in Ghana and beyond. Looking ahead to the next five years, he hopes to complete his degree and work with a leading engineering firm locally or internationally. “By the grace of God, I would hopefully be working with one of the top firms in Ghana or internationally in order to be able to solve problems here, Ghana and the world at large,” he added.
Jason also reflected on PRESEC’s NSMQ triumph, explaining that although he always pictured himself winning, he understood that victory was never guaranteed. “I always like to visualise myself winning, but I fully acknowledge the possibility that it might not go my way,” he said, adding that he did everything within his power to help the team succeed.
