Hyperlocal. We talk about the cities we live in, people who shape them, and the things worth making better.

Better Starts With Us.

[GTK @ThisisGTK]

Every city is shaped by the conversations its people are willing to have.

This is one of them.

We’re not here to tell you what to think.
We’re here to ask questions, listen to different perspectives, and make room for conversations that matter to the cities we live in.

So, we want to hear from you.

What about this conversation concerns you?
What questions would you want to ask?
What would you want us to explore?

Tell us below.

Your questions become part of the conversation.

You’ve probably seen the headline.

“We won’t hire men from 4 states.”

But what happened after the post went viral?

Why did @kkarthikkgs make the decision, and has his position changed?

We sat down with him to ask.

[GTK @ThisisGTK]

When does an individual’s behaviour become a question about an entire city?

A recent controversy involving a Bengaluru CEO’s decision to exclude male candidates from four states has opened up a much larger conversation about workplace safety, regional identity, prejudice, and the assumptions we make about people based on where they come from.

But perhaps the more interesting question is what happens when safety, identity and belonging begin to collide.

Can we protect our people without reducing people to the places they come from?

Can a city have a strong identity without becoming closed to difference?

And ultimately, how much should where we come from determine how we are seen?

These are not questions with easy answers.
They are questions worth having a conversation about.

Did @kkarthikkgs regret the tweet that sparked backlash over hiring men from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan?

In this conversation, he reflects on what he said - and what was going through his mind when he posted it.

Was it a position he stood by, or something said in the heat of the moment?

Watch the full conversation tonight.

[GTK @ThisisGTK]

Bengaluru CEO @kkarthikkgs sparked a fierce debate after saying his company would stop hiring men from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

We don’t agree with that decision.

But disagreement doesn’t have to mean shouting past each other. In a democracy, difficult conversations must get space, with the hope that dialogue can challenge perspectives and move the needle.

So that became the point of this conversation: test the statement.

By the end of the episode, does the needle shift even a little?

Presenting GTK Originals: GTK is here to get to know the people, culture and stories that make our cities what they are.

[GTK @ThisisGTK]

I’ve lived across cities, countries and cultures, and each one has left something behind.

A way of seeing people. A way of navigating streets. A sense of what works, what doesn’t, and what we’ve simply gotten used to.

GTK is our founder @tiwaryr’s attempt to pay closer attention.

[GTK @ThisisGTK]

To the people building, creating, questioning and quietly making things better.

To the stories hiding in plain sight.

And to the conversations we need to have if we want to understand the places we call home a little better.

That is where GTK begins.

[GTK @ThisisGTK]

Every city has stories beyond the headlines.

In its streets, neighbourhoods, old shops, new places and the people shaping them every day.

GTK is here to notice them, talk about them and ask how to make better cities.

Better Starts With Us.
