Just listened to Cleveland and I understand why many people have such negativity towards it. But I swear if you went through heartbreaks after heartbreaks and finally feel happy or peace or hope in your mind for once, the simplicity in the lyricism is really relatable.
Lily said she cried while listening to ‘Claveland’ by Taylor Swift for the first time and her sister made fun of her for it 😭
someone said they were going to listen to it to see if it's worth crying over, she replied, "No, I'm just weird" 😭😭😭
And should I say my theory: it took a lot more time and energy to process grief or heartbroken feeling than happiness. You might have diffent ways to do it, but one common way is to look directly into that and transform it.
You might find other words and expressions to try to retell the story, you might find other theory about relationship psychology science, you might do everything just to keep yourself from vulnerability. Hence, the lyricism is better when someone's depressed.
That's kinda sad because I don't think someone from a fandom which has been criticized from the beginning for their music taste can turn their back on the idol they protected like this...
Like, I think the reason Lily cried to it was because she felt like Taylor can finally be happily in love, for real. Some of you are judging the songs for themselves, while Lily empathize with the artist, especially when she's a fan of hers.
