@mrbrianrowe I show this to my intro to film students as an example of design work and it’s been a highlight for the class. Even the non musical students love it!
@RStromangoff@peachpopsickle@danobuspr@NE0N_Hammer RuPaul evolved a lot of her worldview though. In early seasons of drag race, Ru said a trans performer wouldn’t ever compete. Now, several trans artists have won the show. RuPaul is not perfect (fracking especially) but the positive work that she and the show provide is necessary
I don’t understand this. I go to 80-100 new movies a year and maybe 2-4 have had bad audiences. The few that do, I just tell a manager and it gets resolved quickly
The problem is this movie does nothing to comment on incel culture. I don’t care if the protagonist is a bad person, but I don’t think the writers know he’s a bad person
I really believe YouTube culture has been a bad thing for society and for the arts.
I really hesitate to say YouTubers are the saviors of Hollywood.
Happy for the theaters for their success, but I’m really nervous what the future is going to look like.
Last years “Companion” is thematically similar to obsession. However, companion understands what it’s trying to say about incel culture, and the culture that weak men create. Obsession does not comment on anything.
@JeremyChopra No, the screenplay does not offer him as a villain. It feels like the director just said around with his bros and they all made sexist comments about women and that’s how this movie came about.
It's looking like $27m-$30m for #Obsession this weekend, another increase in Week 3. I'm at a loss for words for the phenomenal, unprecedented box office performance. Heading to a potential $200m domestic gross. @FocusFeatures@blumhouse@jason_blum@UniversalPics .
