"We believe any deceleration of AI will cost lives. Deaths that were preventable by the AI that was prevented from existing is a form of murder." [What about deaths caused by leaving AI unconstrained?]

There should be standing incentives ("ecological impact rewards") to motivate such creative solutions.
A tiny minority of humankind profit mightily from maintaining a fossil-fuel-centered infrastructure that, for decades now, has been known to destroy Earth's climate & biodiversity.
We have better, cheaper renewables technologies but keep the old alive with trillion subsidies.
As a member of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the European Broadcasting Union (with Eurovision), Israel deserves honorable mention here, beating Srebrenica by a factor of 10 at least.

With the usual expressions of deep concern and calls on all parties, our governments remain passive in the face of yet another easily stoppable bloodbath. The UAE have lot of money, the Sudanese victims have nothing.
🇺🇳🇸🇩 In a three-hour UN Security Council briefing on Sudan, convened to weigh expanding the arms embargo across the entire country, not a single speaker other than the representative from Sudan itself named the United Arab Emirates as the principal party arming the genocidal Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Speaker after speaker condemned "external actors" fueling the war, then declined to say who:
◽️ Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, said "the sophisticated weapons used continues to point to ongoing external support to both parties."
◽️ Dr. Eva Awad, health protection and peacebuilding adviser, cited "the role of multiple actors in supplying weapons, mercenaries, other forms of military assistance, and diplomatic cover to the RSF on the one hand, and military, logistical, financial assistance to the SAF on the other."
◽️ The U.S. representative said "external financial and military support and even political support to the parties remain a driver of the conflict," and that "numerous external actors are providing a tremendous and increasing amount of military support to both warring parties."
◽️ The United Kingdom's representative said fighting was "fueled by armed supplies from within and beyond the region," naming no one.
◽️ France's representative "calls on all states to cease all military, financial or logistical support to the parties."
◽️ Somalia, speaking for the A3 (also DR Congo and Liberia), said it was "deeply concerned by the growing involvement of external actors" and called on "all external actors to comply fully" with Council resolutions.
◽️ Greece's representative condemned attacks "by all parties" and urged "all regional and international actors to use their influence."
◽️ Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, chairing the meeting, said "the external influence in this war is enabling and prolonging this catastrophe," but named no state.
◽️ Latvia's Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs warned that "the flow of weapons, financing and other external support fueling this war must end."
Only Sudan's representative named the UAE directly, saying the RSF was "supported by the United Arab Emirates" and that the sanctions panel "has reached conclusions about the role of the UAE that it is attempting to hide."
Then the UAE took the floor. Its representative, absurdly, called to "end all forms of foreign support to the belligerent parties, without any exception," saying: "Every weapon that enters the Sudan keeps it away from peace and from the protection of civilians." The UAE, despite overwhelming evidence, continues to publicly claim it does not arm or support the RSF.
⭕️ UN Relief Chief: “I usually end these briefings with three asks: uphold international humanitarian law, fund the response, and help end the conflict.
But today I won’t because this Council has heard those asks again and again.
Instead, the ask is that we not have another meeting where the Council simply describes the problem.
Sudan does not suffer from a lack of analysis. It suffers from a lack of action.
The people of Sudan need food, water and medicine. Yet the world sends drones, weapons and mercenaries.
The people of Sudan need sustained, courageous diplomacy. Yet the world is too often indifferent and distracted.
The people of Sudan need peace and dignity. Yet others use Sudan's land and people as pieces in a regional struggle for power, gold and pride.
This Council is not powerless. The international community is not powerless. The tragedy of Sudan is not that we do not know what to do. It is that we have not yet found the will to do it.”

Juries now have refused to send Palestine Action astivists to jail as well as Tony Greenstein. His speech to the Jury that refused to send him to jail for ‘terrorism’ worth reading in whole, but here is an excerpt:
‘In the second world war, the Nazis walled the Jews of Warsaw, half a million of them into a ghetto — a sealed district, starved and diseased, from which the trains left for the Treblinka death camp. And in 1943 the young Jews who remained did something nobody expected. With a handful of smuggled pistols, against tanks and the SS, they rose. They knew they could not win. They rose because it was better to die resisting than to be led away quietly. It is one of the proudest moments in Jewish history.
The last surviving commander of that uprising was a man named Marek Edelman. And in his old age, Edelman wrote to the Palestinian resistance and addressed them as fellow fighters — much to Israel’s annoyance. When he died, Poland gave him a state funeral, a fifteen-gun salute, the President gave the oration. Israel did not send the lowliest clerk at the Israeli Embassy. Edelman wasn’t a Zionist.
Edelman, who led the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising against the Nazis, described Gaza as a ghetto. I have used his comparison for years before October 2023. Two million people, most of them refugees or the children of refugees, sealed into a strip of land under blockade for 16 years, where the majority are children who have never once been allowed out. When I wrote “ghetto,” I meant a ghetto. My blog supported the Uprising just as I would have supported the slave uprisings of the 19th century. That is a political opinion. It was a political opinion on 7 October 2023, and it is a political opinion now.
And here is the crazy thing. Read section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and ask what it would have made of the Warsaw Ghetto fighters. If this Act had existed in 1944, they could have been classified as terrorists. So could the French Resistance.’

I just talked to Jewish-American and Muslim-American doctors who were in Gaza and featured in the movie American Doctor. They explained how many kids were shot in the head and chest by Israeli snipers. They're murdering the kids on purpose.
83% of American doctors who went to Gaza reported a child assassinated by a sniper with either a head or chest shot - every single day they were there. They're murdering the children on purpose.
One of the doctors explained that when Israel surrounds a hospital, bombs it, raids it and shuts it down, they purposely destroy all the life saving equipment. In the hospital he was in, they destroyed the incubators, and eight babies died without them.
We are being forced to finance a fascist country committing a genocide, while the monsters in our government and media pretend it isn't happening.
“I got no response from Chuck Schumer’s office. I got no response from the American embassy.”
Dr. Mark Perlmutter told @amanpour that after Israel killed World Central Kitchen workers in March 2024, he repeatedly contacted New York Senator Schumer’s office and U.S. embassies seeking protection for himself and other American doctors volunteering in Gaza, as they were set to travel the same roads.
Leaving Gaza, he said he saw a line of aid trucks stretching roughly 31 miles, eight abreast, with food rotting inside as Israel blocked them from entering.
“That is enough to surround Gaza three to five times with trucks of supplies that Israel was not letting in.” Famine was declared in Gaza in July 2025.
A great privilege to take part in the celebration of Indonesia's Independence Day here at Nalanda, where the cosmopolitan spirit of the world's oldest university is thriving anew.
🇮🇩 Celebrating Indonesia at Nalanda
At Nalanda University, diversity is not merely represented—it is celebrated through shared moments of culture, learning and friendship.
Indonesian students marked the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on campus in the presence of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Professor Sachin Chaturvedi and faculty members. Vibrant cultural performances by the students, along with a special message from the Embassy of Indonesia, made the occasion particularly meaningful.
The celebration reflected Nalanda’s global character, where students from diverse nations and cultures come together in the spirit of academic exchange, mutual respect and shared learning.
