Protests and marches up and down the country today and one message back - any package put forward must relieve hardship for ALL corners of society - this is a national crisis and people are hurting badly . I asked @EU_Commission today to actively look at relaxing EU state aid laws to allow member states like Ireland the flexibility to make direct payments of support for haulage, agriculture , fisheries , rural SMEs and households dependent on heating oil - in the present fuel crisis . The EU spokeswoman said they have already started the process to look at these measures for citizens - listen to her response here: has the @GovIE asked for such measures ?
