On the Second day of Ethiopia- BENELUX Business Forum a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening trade, investment promotion, and economic collaboration between Ethiopia and Belgium was signed.

The memorandum of understanding was signed between the South Ethiopia Chamber of Commerce & Sectoral Associations and CBL-ACP, reflecting a shared commitment to developing a common strategy that will deepen bilateral business relations and including to create new opportunities for investors and businesses for entrepreneurs from both side.

The second day of the Forum focused on business-to-business (B2B) engagements, where Belgian and Ethiopian companies held meetings aimed at exploring partnerships for investment opportunities, new and expanded market.

Panel discussions also featured prominently throughout the day, with speakers highlighting key issues including investment facilitation, trade cooperation, industrial development, innovation, and the role of private sector partnerships in strengthening economic ties between Ethiopia and Europe.

Participants described the forum as an important platform for enhancing buisness diplomacy and enhancing long-term cooperation between Ethiopian and Benelux business communities.

On 18 May 2026, Ms. Hana Hehelku, Director General of Ethiopian Capital Market Authority held a productive meeting with Ms. Laetitia Hamon, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (@LuxSE) and her team.

The discussions focused on introducing the work and strategic priorities of the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority and drawing lesson from experiences Luxembourg Stock Exchange, while identifying potential areas for future collaboration.

The @luxsecuritatis officials provided an overview of the Exchange’s initiatives and expertise in sustainable finance, whereas Ms. Hana highlighted @CMAEthiopia achievements since its establishment and outlined key areas of interest for cooperation.

Both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening engagement and exploring opportunities for collaboration in areas of mutual interest. Also in Attendance were H.E. Eshete Tilahun, the Ambassador of Ethiopia to Luxembourg and H.E. Jeanne Crauser, the Ambassador of Luxembourg to Ethiopia, who reaffirmed their support in facilitating follow-up engagements and advancing the outcomes of the discussions.

There is something quietly symbolic about signing a book on the eve of its public presentation. A moment of reflection before it meets the world.

Tonight in Abuja, I am autographing copies of Economic Diplomacy of the Diaspora ahead of tomorrow’s presentation at the Belgian Residence. What began as years of lived experience; across policy, trade, and diaspora engagement; now takes on a more tangible form.

The presentation forms part of the Nigeria Edition of the Nigeria Belgium Luxembourg Business Forum 2026. A fitting setting, given the book’s central thesis: that diaspora is not a peripheral actor, but a strategic bridge in economic diplomacy.

Grateful for the journey, and even more for the conversations this work will now provoke.
