@DoloresGMorris Oof, I had to go through this two years ago after a storm blew over a tree and it's roots ripped up my drain field. It wasn't fun and it wasn't cheap to fix.
I’m asking for sanctions against Nigeria until their persecution of Christians stops. But a number of people are responding by saying sanctions don’t work.
If that’s you, I have 2 requests for you.
#1 If they don’t work then they’re not gonna hurt anything so maybe you shouldn’t get in the way. Besides, it is the people who have been working to help these believers in Nigeria, patching their wounds, burying their children, rebuilding their homes, who are asking for sanctions. Maybe they know more about it than you do.
#2 If you believe they don’t work and also think the mass murder of our brothers and sisters in Nigeria should be stopped then I encourage you to go to https://t.co/snwcEpQwF0 and to donate money because money will actually help them in Nigeria.
@RyanBea64600306@alisa_childers As a "reformed Christian," where are "War crimes" referenced in scripture, either explicitly or implicitly? If not, where is the source of this truth you fervently pursue?
@_ForceMajeure_1@peterboghossian@elonmusk@grok I wouldn't quite frame it that way. I view epistemology, ethics, and metaphysics to be mutually dependent. While I don't want to say that they evolve, I would say that they are causally dependent on each other.
@peterboghossian@elonmusk@grok Your statement assumes both a moral and metaphysical position, rendering it self-contradictory. While I agree with you in spirit, I find that, despite our best efforts, they are all interdependent.
@carmenjoyimes@WokePreacherTV While the gospel assuredly holds political/social implications, why is it that the majority of liberation theologians turn to marxian theories rather than the panoply of sociopolical theories already in existence? Coincidence?
@SpeedWatkins They are present a bleak rendering of the world and what it means to be human. I recall reading those selections early in my atheist days and being left with a powerful insight into the depravity of humanity. I had to turn to science fiction for some modicum of hope for humanity.
@dreverettpiper@megbasham@redeemed_zoomer Further, are you granting Lewis and Spurgeon the same level of apostolic authority as Paul? Was this meant to shift the argument to the authority of the claimant, or were you pulling names out of a hat? Sophistry.
@dreverettpiper@megbasham@redeemed_zoomer Your response is an appeal to authority, and it doesn't address the content of the argument. The age of the person presenting an argument does not affect the quality of the argument. The truth value of the content if the argument does. Your claim is a red herring.
@deepfates If nature + chance can yield a work such as Hamlet, how are we to trust the timeless truths if they were merely expressions of natural processes. In this view, a monkey's crayon drawing would be of equal worth, and the significance of Hanlet for the original premise is undermined
@deepfates While this is a decent couterexample to natural design, it also serves as a supporting claim to the evolutionary argument against naturalism.
