“I do not feel obligated to believe that the same God who has endowed us with senses, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use” #eurohistry
Paris is pretty cool, the French were very kind to me when I was exiled from England for my royalist affiliation during the civil war. Big shout out to Charles II for keeping me employed as his math tutor.
I totally enojoyed the time I spent with all my fellow philosophers at Queen Bea's Salon. I like how all of us kept our sanity throughout the Salon and how we shared our different point of views with each other. Till next time!
"If there be no power erected, or not great enough for our security, every man will, and may lawfully rely on his own strength and art, for caution against all other men." This is a fundamental law of nature which is why we have locks on our doors. Faith in humanity is dangerous
"It is therefore [not] against the dictates of true reason, for a man to use all his endeavors to preserve and defend his body and the members thereof from death and sorrows." If its you or me, i'm obviously going to pick me and I know you would do the same.
If this doesn't summarize human behavior then i don't know what does. We truly are a savage breed. "Jewelry store employees use swords to fend off robbers" https://t.co/vsjOFZfsd7
"For if we look on men full grown, and consider how brittle the frame of our human body is … and how easy a matter it is, even for the weakest man to kill the strongest" We all have the potential to kill one another if we let our guard down, so lets not overthrow our deterrent
Why would overthrowing the government be a part of the social contract? Lol who would sign that? You may as well throw the whole contract away and resort to war. @APEURO_John
@_JeanRousseau Idk about being "born good", but society does have some real "daddy issues" that comes with an absent/weak authority. It is most visible in how terrible the newborns come to be
