@adamabandit@tfptfptfptfp@nntaleb Not sure ppl who would kill over race are stopped by facts (such as Augustine being berber). The whole notion of ethnic identity being so important, seems to be driving various ethnocentric movements.
@tfptfptfptfp@nntaleb My point is that neither Augustine’s ethnicity (basically skin color, we know he was roman culturally) nor his height is very relevant compared to his thoughts. If too stupid for you to argue with, so be it.
@nntaleb My point is we have a choice whether to fight over the ethnic identity of historic figures. I don’t think their ethnicity as it relates to that of ethnic groups today is very relevant
@KikeljGregor @tprstly @nntaleb Ok, so reinforcement learning from human feedback. Could there be a risk that a majority of humans might give feedback by applauding clever sounding answers, which are neither accurate nor insightful?
@ylecun @rich_gast It seems that you started out by arguing that "the Terminator scenario" for AI is pure fiction, but went on to defend against "the Paperclip scenario". These are two very different scenarios, right?
@BentFlyvbjerg 2/2.
2) If human biases are responsible for failures in big projects, why is low productivity so unique for the construction business? One would think these biases would hurt every human endeavour?
@BentFlyvbjerg 1/2.
Listened to you present your work in the (Danish) podcast p1 Orientering. Few questions:
1) Why is “the lego method” for construction better than “a tailormade plan”, what sets them apart?
Doesn’t every plan for construction involve “building blocks” to some extent?
@RLCJR1962@nntaleb Deterring crime by scaring potential criminals off is not the sole reason for prison penalties. Restoring a sense of justice in the victims of the crime as well as momentarily preventing sb from committing new crimes (while serving time) are other such reasons.
