It's frustrating to see our own @wvlegislature’s continued anti-cannabis stance, especially when the same products they're scared of making available for sale are already on shelves in every city across West Virginia.

These products are no different than recreational cannabis, and they’ve been working for West Virginians for years through the hemp program.

Yet, despite this success, small WV-owned cannabis companies are being shut out of the program, while licenses are handed over to massive, out-of-state multi-state operators.

What's even more concerning is that no new licenses have been granted for four years, with zero updates on expanding the industry. Instead, we’re left with a monopoly of just ten grow permits, stifling competition and innovation.

This isn’t just bad for local businesses; it’s bad for West Virginians who deserve access to a thriving market with more choices and better prices.

Supporting cannabis isn't just about economics—it's about the foundation of freedom. Prohibition has never worked; we’ve seen that time and again throughout history. By refusing to embrace recreational cannabis, we’re allowing millions of dollars to flow through the grey market, with that money ultimately going back to other states instead of staying here in West Virginia, where it could benefit our communities.

West Virginians should also have the right to grow their own medicine, just like our neighbors in Ohio. It’s a matter of personal freedom and autonomy.

Legalizing recreational cannabis could be a game-changer for our state. It would not only create jobs and stimulate our economy but also attract tourists eager to experience West Virginia in a new way.

Our farmers could thrive in a booming new industry, and local businesses would finally have the chance to participate in a market that’s been kept out of their reach.

It’s time to rethink this outdated approach and start supporting the true potential of West Virginia. Let's stop blocking our own entrepreneurs and citizens, and instead, build a future where our state’s resources and ingenuity lead the way.
