Lilian Waithera was walking down the busy streets of Nairobi CBD when she was shot down by a sniper. No bang, no shooter, no visible wound could be seen. So when she fell on the floor, people thought she had just suffered a medical emergency.

She was rushed to Nairobi Hospital, but sadly, she had already passed away. Government pathologist Dr. Johnson Odour did an autopsy on her the following day, and that's when people found out she had been shot by a single 9mm bullet.

The bullet had a small entry hole on her left collarbone,very easy not to notice. It got stuck in her left lung, causing her to have internal bleeding, though externally she had no dramatic bleeding. From the angle, the shooter must have been somewhere above her in an elevated position.

Lilian was 46, a wife, and had two sons, and was in a very solid and loving marriage. Her husband, Paul, insists that Lilian had no dark secrets and wasn't living in fear. She worked for nearly 15 years in NHIF offices in Upper Hill.

Investigators speculated two ideas, a targeted hit or a stray bullet from somewhere nearby. But after pressure, the DCI downplayed the sniper theory and just said that someone must have shot her at close range.

Still, the questions didn't go away: How does someone shoot somebody on a very busy street in Nairobi, and no one hears the gunshot, and no one sees the shooter?
