1/ Randy Moss didn't separate with speed.
He separated with the brake.
We put a physics overlay on his route film. 8 breaks tracked.
2/ Top end: 21.4 mph. That part everyone expects.
The part nobody talks about — on his sharpest breaks he dumps 77% of that speed in ONE step.
3/ What that costs: a modeled 872 lbs through a single plant foot. 0.58g of braking.
Then he's back at full speed before the DB finishes flipping his hips.
4/ Separation isn't created at top speed.
It's created in the two steps where you're willing to destroy your own momentum — and the guy covering you isn't.
Deceleration is the most undercoached quality in route running.
