From homeless to Harvard! This first-gen, queer, black woman matched at BWH/MGH for #OBGYN residency! So blessed to have had the support and love of so many. I don’t know how I’ll ever thank you enough.❣️🥹 #Match2023#MatchDay
Feeling so blessed and lucky! SO excited to start residency in OB/GYN at Brigham and Women’s/Mass General!! Thank you to my amazing friends, family, and mentors who have supported me on this journey!! Much love and gratitude 💜💜 @BWHMGHObGyn#match2023#uncsommatch
Recently, a patient I had been caring for for a while had a bad outcome. I cried in front of my team. I was embarrassed.
My fellow's feedback changed that:
"I hope in residency you continue to be a crier. Don't let it desensitize you. This is what makes you a great doctor."
Started mapping out my Step 2 study plan and I’m confused about how anyone does this in less than 5 months. I may have scheduled in a lot of ice cream breaks, but still...
@RiderToast Mom worked as a bank teller & my grandparents were blue collar factory workers. First in my family to go to college and first to (eventually) get an MD. Glad to have my family’s support every step of the way. ❣️
a 6 week abortion ban is terrifying but we also need to be talking about how in Texas you’ll be able to sue someone who miscarries and the burden is on them during a period of grief and trauma to prove it was actually a miscarriage
Equipment and curricular items that will be required in an abortion-ban era:
-Massive transfusion protocols
-ICU expansion
-Sepsis bundles
-Gyn, Urologic, General Surgeons for uterovaginal, bladder, and colonic perforating trauma
-Toxicologists educated in abortifacients
Today I presented a poster and had a lot of stimulating conversations regarding my work. But best of all, I got to cheer on my peers and all of their hard work!
@jbullockruns Some of my peers have said “Eww, why would you ever work with poor people?” & it makes my heart hurt. As a first gen from a below poverty level family, the mistreatment my family has experienced at the hands of medicine is one of the key reasons I went into this field.
Whoever wins, I will never be ok w how close this race is. That we couldn’t outright reject the blatant racism and our nastiness of Trump says all I ever need to know about this country. Ever.
