In Shire, I went to see for myself the situation in a camp of Internally Displaced Persons from West Tigray & contested zones.
Thanks to @UNHCREthiopia and other partners for the much needed work they do, notably with #EU support.

As conflict dynamics suggested civilians in Tigray could again be targeted by Ethiopian and Eritrean troops, Crisis Group recently rang the alarm bell.
So, as both war and talks continue, what are the dynamics, and what’s been going on since?

The #Isaias-led invading forces in Tigray have stepped up their scorched earth policy against civilians wherever they have set foot. The killings in southern, central, eastern and northwestern Tigray clearly show that the genocidal intent of both regimes is on full display & they
Today, when supposed peace talks are underway in South Africa, his drones attacked Mekelleㅡ Tigray’s capital. Furthermore, his & Eritrea’s forces are rounding up Tigrayans across the region & killing those older than seven.
On the international community’s watch, genocidal @AbiyAhmedAli & his cronies have normalized the daily indiscriminate bombardment of civilian areas ensuing the loss of innocent lives across the besieged Tigray.
Horrified by the reports of continuous violence, including targeting of civilians, in #Shire#Tigray.
Genuine peace efforts do not amount to increasing military offensives nor to provocation.
Respecting international law is not an option - it is an obligation for all.

will continue. What’s mind-boggling is not the twin-tyrants resolve to exterminate Tigrayans. What’s baffling is the International Community’s deafening silence in the face of such a tragedy. We know we are on our own but let there be no mistake about it: #TigrayWillPrevail!
The #AdiDaeroMassacre is no doubt exceptionally tragic. It is a clear testament to the distance to which both #AbiyAhmed & #IsaiasAfeworki are willing to go to exterminate the people of Tigray. There is a method to this madness & we have reason to believe such wanton destruction

A daughter screaming “where is my mom?”.
A brother screaming “my brother, my brother”.
Aerial bombardment by Eritrean gov’t in Adi Daero, Tigray. Ethiopia & Eritrea continue their #TigrayGenocide campaign @StateDept@UN_HRC@MikeHammerUSA
To the #Tigray survivors, victims and their families: thank you for entrusting us with your stories. The recognition for our body of work on Ethiopia serves to counter the false narratives around the reality in Tigray. I’m so incredibly proud to lead this wonderfully dogged team.
Thank you @nimaelbagir for being the voice of the voiceless; for the courage, integrity and determination you displayed in taking up the cause of victims of senseless violence not just in Tigray but also elsewhere in the world often at the cost of putting your own life at peril.
Meskel day for the people of Tigray wasn't a happy day. As if the blockade is not enough, Eritrean forces fired dozens of artilleries at Adigrat & Irob, & conducted air strikes in Shire and Adi Dairo killing civlians & destroying civilian infrastructure. Footage from Adi Dairo.1
Eritrean forces have launched full scale offensive in all fronts today-all the way from Tekeze through to Irob. Heavy fighting in May Kuhli, Zban Gedena, AdiAwala, Rama, Tserona and Zalambessa. AbiyAhmed’s Eastern command, significant elements of Northwestern command and three
EU's efforts to end human suffering in #Tigray are promising steps but only if these condemnation are followed with proper actions and measures on perpetrators. Actions minimize impunity.
‘we have to regret that the two drone airstrikes that hit Mekelle yesterday and earlier today endanger, once again, the very fragile hope for peace in Ethiopia. The role of Eritrea continues to impede ongoing efforts towards peace in Ethiopia.’ #EU https://t.co/nnSIGIl8cS
The world should come to its sense and act accordingly to end the tragedy in #Tigray. Human rights should matter all human being around the world and should be a responsibility of everyone of us.
WHO chief @DrTedros strongly condemns continued deadly airstrikes on civilians in #Tigray, and urges #Ethiopian and #Eritrean governments to work towards peace and end the siege and blockade leading to starvation in the region.
