@j0keon @back_the_BBC When people are oppressed they will do anything for freedom - the Palestinians were oppressed for over 75 years unfortunately & this is the consequence 😔😔😔My concern is next world war to happen - only thing I can do is pray for peace & talks with both sides #Gaza_under_attack

'How can she say we're not right wing? What more could we do!?'
James O'Brien imagines the scenes at Daily Mail HQ after US Press Secretary Katie Zacharia said they weren't conservative.
@EalingCouncil there appears to a regular trend with bin collection delays in the past 2 months, where the scheduled collection days are carried out the following day for recycling & food waste. What are you doing to ensure this regular trend is not going to continue #ealing
The scariest and most troubling part about this hypothesis and theory is that so much of it makes sense and so much of it actually seems it appears plausible. What do you think?
@adamboultonTABB What sort of utter scumbag goes on TV to falsely attack an Irish writer & then "a lot of people in Ireland" of being anti-jewish.
What is it about Irish people having the decency to oppose Israel slaughtering tens of thousands of KIDS while stealing their land that annoys u most
The BBC has announced a two-part documentary on J.K. Rowling. I’d like to be wrong, but I’m not optimistic she gets a fair shake.
Episode one is a victory lap: the Edinburgh cafés, the books, the billions. Episode two is where the trouble starts. It frames her as “one of Britain’s most polarising public figures,” and the producer says her “unflinching personal beliefs” sparked a “fraught and divisive dialogue.”
That’s not a biography. That’s a setup.
Notice the pattern. The BBC casts her views — keeping women safe from predatory men in female only spaces — as the problem. The release says she finds herself divided from actors and fans who once championed her. It never mentions the women she was defending.
It also doesn’t say who will be interviewed other than to say it will include “people who worked with her.”
Full disclosure: @trishaposner and I share a London literary agent with her. But after four decades reporting on controversial subjects, I don’t pull punches for anyone. I recently walked away from Simon & Schuster, my publisher of many years, over its refusal to condemn a novelist’s vile anti-Jewish hatred.
I’m not defending Rowling out of loyalty. Her activism has been one of the great campaigns for women everywhere. She never asked for the fight and never ran from it, and she took on enormous powers to protect women.
I admire and stand with J.K. Rowling. I hope the BBC proves me wrong but I am not counting on it.
This is wild!

Footage sent in shows marked cars and vans packed along the road and officers moving through the estate. People at the scene describe it as a trading raid, though which agency is involved, what it relates to, and whether anyone has been arrested hasn’t been confirmed.
For anyone who doesn’t know it: Charles House is the industrial and wholesale estate on Bridge Road, rows of units supplying shops across London and beyond. It’s also had more enforcement visits than almost anywhere on the patch. Back in 2013, councils described it as a major source of unsafe and counterfeit goods across London and the Home Counties, after officers found nearly 67,000 dangerous phone chargers hidden in a secret room. Since then there have been thousands of fake Apple and Samsung accessories seized in 2020, more than 3,000 counterfeit rugs worth around £200,000 in 2022, and in 2023, 18 tonnes of fake designer goods, around 53,000 items with a £5 million street value, pulled out of a single unit.
None of that tells us what today was about. But it explains why a raid at Charles House stops nobody in Southall in their tracks, and why the size of this one has.
We’ve asked the Met and will update when there’s official word.
