If they were truly remorseful for what they did, they would recognize that they deserve to be in prison.

They would be begging the judge to make their sentences longer so they can sufficiently atone for the horrific atrocity they committed against two innocent people.

The fact that they want their sentences reduced proves that they don't see any problem with what they did. These monsters are probably not even capable of it.
