@michael0c @ItsTaz1989 Sure, but lines are drawn, things have beginnings, distinctions that are made, time is a factor. Otherwise we just conclude - there's no such thing as ethnicity bc if you go back far enough we're all just Africans.

@michael0c @ItsTaz1989 I think a big part of the issue around this is that England the nation doesn't have a separate word that isn't an ethnicity that confers membership. It just has 'English', which also happens to be an ethnicity.

@KarlPritch86 They either deny it exists, or they think that all it takes to become of that ethnicity is being born in England, sometimes they seem to require an amount of time spent here too or certain sports. (Grew up in England, plays cricket etc.)

@SamCKx It's not because of the colour of his skin, it's because of his ethnicity. I'd say the same thing to a white Russian.

Is your argument that English isn't an ethnicity, or that it is an ethnicity, but ancestry is not required to be of that ethnicity?
