El refugio se organiza a partir de dos volúmenes sólidos de hormigón pigmentado y una cubierta liviana de madera que se extiende sobre ellos y se proyecta hacia el exterior como plataforma de observación. Los cuerpos macizos alojan los servicios principales —recepción y tienda en un extremo, cocina en el otro— y, bajo la cubierta de madera laminada conformada por seis pórticos se desarrollan el comedor y las áreas de descanso.
