Today’s political landscape, exhibits concerning parallels with what Hannah Arendt termed totalitarian impulses. Arendt argued that totalitarian ideologies, regardless of their specific political leanings - left or right - share a common strategy of enforcing their own language and thought control mechanisms to create “in group out group” dynamics.

This approach serves an agenda by preserving, purifying, and sanctifying power through subtle coercion and control.

Currently, elements from both ends of the political spectrum employ language manipulation, misinformation, and word policing as tools of dominance and intimidation.

This is a memorial to Benjamin and Jeremy Wise. Two Hendrix College brothers who could have gone to graduate school and Med school but instead joined to serve our country after 9/11. One a seal and the other a ranger. They were both killed in Afghanistan defending our nation. We created place with purpose #edulorics to recognize them through placemaking. I honor the incredible sacrifice of the Wise family.
