“Negotiators working to end the Russia-Ukraine war have already discussed "dividing up certain assets,” US President Donald Trump said Sunday as he announced he planned to speak to Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Tuesday."
Hmm. Sounds fimilar. 19th Century great power politics. As Churchill said we cut and trim states like Dutch cheeses. I hope and know Trump knows that Putin may want to "divide up certain assets" elsewhere like Poland, Germany or Belgium.
We are back to the old 19th century but this time with
Proud that two years ago this month we opened the Chubb O’Reilly Enterprise Center, Breech School of Business, and Thompson Conference Center as part of our $75m 2016-2023 campaign. We also started 10 new non ncaa sports, created dozens of majors and our signature Fusion Program

In our country acceptance into various groups hinges on conformity to specific linguistic norms: word choices, references, jokes, and even the ability to acknowledge certain truths are scrutinized for ideological purity. This environment creates a minefield where deviation from accepted norms risks exclusion and ostracization.
The pervasive influence of totalizing ideologies poses a grave threat to our liberties, personal freedoms, and our ability to challenge prevailing social norms. This danger persists regardless of the outcome of any election with implications for the American polity that are profound and regrettable. Thoughts?

Today’s political landscape, exhibits concerning parallels with what Hannah Arendt termed totalitarian impulses. Arendt argued that totalitarian ideologies, regardless of their specific political leanings - left or right - share a common strategy of enforcing their own language and thought control mechanisms to create “in group out group” dynamics.
This approach serves an agenda by preserving, purifying, and sanctifying power through subtle coercion and control.
Currently, elements from both ends of the political spectrum employ language manipulation, misinformation, and word policing as tools of dominance and intimidation.
This phenomenon, identified by Arendt, goes beyond traditional political opposition to encompass broader societal control through terror, disinformation, and self-censorship. It's a strategy aimed not just at political adversaries but at subjugating the entire population.

This is a memorial to Benjamin and Jeremy Wise. Two Hendrix College brothers who could have gone to graduate school and Med school but instead joined to serve our country after 9/11. One a seal and the other a ranger. They were both killed in Afghanistan defending our nation. We created place with purpose #edulorics to recognize them through placemaking. I honor the incredible sacrifice of the Wise family.
