Tropea
This ancient and beautiful town is nestled between white sand beaches and towering cliffs. Once believed to have been founded by Hercules, Tropea's natural beauty still maintains an otherworldly appeal for those who love to immerse themselves in the ocean waters. Tropea's pristine beaches with their stunning white sand and translucent turquoise waters offer endless photo opportunities.
This Southern Italy tourist destination is most notable for Santa Maria del'Isola, a medieval church built on its own island just off the coast (although silt and years of construction have taken a land bridge between it and the mainland). The second church to visit is the local church, with two unexploded bombs from World War II located just outside their front door, which are guarded by the local patron saint.

Palermo
Palermo is the capital of Sicily and holds an important place in the history of this southern archipelago - it serves as the economic and cultural center of Sicily and contains some of the island's most important landmarks. Palermo Cathedral is stunning - its different architectural styles show the different empires and countries that conquered Sicily. The Palermo Archaeological Museum covers the history of the city and the islands, and contains some magnificent artefacts and relics dating back to Roman times. For more history, you can travel underground and visit the Capuchin Monastery and Catacombs - here you can find more than 8000 bodies that have been preserved by the monks who lived here. Palermo also has some great markets and plenty of places to find a delicious bite to eat with the locals.
