Padua’s Baseball team is heading to the State Final Four for the second time in the last three years!

With a late-game rally, the Bruins earned a 6-5 victory over University School earlier this week. They’ll play in the State Semifinal vs. either Hamilton Badin or Vandalia Butler on Thursday, June 11 at 4 p.m. at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium in Canton.

In Division III, Region 10 action, #3 @paduabruinbb punched its ticket to the Regional Final with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over @SylvaniaSouthv1, despite being outhit 7-4.

Talented 2028 two-way prospect @ChaseMartin1212 set the tone on the mound, earning the win after five strong innings. The right-hander allowed just one run on four hits and two walks while piling up 11 strikeouts.

2027 RHP @BTillman2027 took over for the final two innings and secured the save, striking out two while helping the Bruins hold off a late Southview push.

Offensively, Padua was led by a pair of standout underclassmen. 2028 @2028_bzb reached base twice, scored two runs, and wreaked havoc on the bases with four stolen bags. 2029 @MikeCangelosi25 sparked the offense with an early triple and later scored on a Chase Martin RBI single.

For Southview, 2026 RHP @WillColyer kept the Cougars within striking distance all game. The @TSCCBaseball commit tossed six innings, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out six. He also contributed offensively, driving in a run at the plate.

Padua now advances to face #6 @USbsbl in the Regional Final. University School earned its spot earlier in the day with a 4-1 victory over @DefianceBBall.

Congratulations to Jack DeGeeter who was named The 2026 District Pitcher of the Year.

Holding a 7-0 record on the year, DeGeeter has also added 58 strikeouts and only 4 earned runs over his 45 innings. Great work, Jack!

Four Seniors on Padua’s Baseball team received their diplomas during a separate celebration. They sported their caps and gowns during Baccalaureate Mass this week, due to the District Championship game landing on Graduation day. The Bruins beat Alliance 5-0 yesterday. We wish them luck as they take on Sylvania Southview on Monday at 5pm at Crushers Stadium in Avon.
